In your role as Senior Security Engineer within the Infrastructure and Operations function, you will assume a pivotal role in shaping the design, implementation, and support of our enterprise security systems. This role necessitates strong technical proficiency, adept security systems management, and vigilant reporting and monitoring experience.

The roles primary objective is to guarantee the alignment of both our internal systems and external vendor platforms with our security standards and best practices set by Fire and Emergency New Zealand and the New Zealand Government.

The role will oversee the resolution of security incidents, problems and stakeholder change request, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) additionally, the role involves conception and implementation of technical solutions for both on-premises and cloud environment, as well as contributing to project delivery, business-as-usual operations, maintenance support, training and security documentation.

- Background in security engineering within an operations and delivery focused environment
- Experience in developing, implementing, or architecting security solutions with a strong attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of threat actors, campaigns, tactics, techniques and procedures
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft cloud services such as Azure, M365, Defender suite and identity management such as Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
- A strong understanding of principles associated with networks, security zoning, cryptography, IDS and IPS, next-generation firewalls and SIEM
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to non-technical audiences
- Strong appreciation of formal IT disciplines, methodologies and techniques including change enablement and service level management
- An excellent understanding of the operational requirements of a complex, multi-vendor, multi-faceted production environment
