New Zealand Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Full time

Join Te Whatu Ora at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive, and people-centred health system. This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it.
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

Talofa lava, Mālo e lelei, Nisa bula Vinaka, Kia Orana, Taloha ni, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Talofa, Mauri.

Can you bring a Pacific worldview to the work we are doing to achieve better health outcomes for Pacific people in Aotearoa? We know many areas of the health system are not working well for Pacific people, aiga, ngutuare tangata, famili, kāinga, magafoa, kaiga, vuvale and kaaiga (families) and communities. In fact, Pacific health inequities are observed throughout the lifecourse, from pregnancy and early childhood through to older age.

In Pacific Health, we have a clear vision of a system that allows the strength of Pacific families and community voice to be at the heart of what we do, delivering equitable health outcomes for Pacific people and a future where Pacific families live longer, healthier lives.

The Pacific values of family, service, love, reciprocity, and respect, along with Pacific culture and customs, influence the way we think and every action we take.

We have an opportunity for a **Policy Advisor and Analyst** to join our Pacific Health team.

The Policy Advisor and Analyst role will work across projects in the Pacific health group and wider ministerial government services. You'll be comfortable diving in where required to provide intellectual impetus to key projects and helping join the dots between work going on in Pacific health and across Te Whatu Ora.

You will work with Ministerial services and be responsible for a range of tasks including quality of assurance of materials prepared for the Minister, assuring strategic alignment and accuracy, supporting, and maintaining efficiency of business processes.

**Mōu | About you**

You are someone with proven experience and organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. You are comfortable effectively writing and advocating for policy changes that address health disparities within Pacific communities and unlocking resources and support.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience
- Thorough understanding of the machinery of government preferred
- Proven analytical and technical skills able to collect, assimilate, and summarise raw data in a systematic way to build a useful dataset for analysis
- Has knowledge and experience in monitoring and advising on statistical methods and Indigenous data practices
- Able to technical analysis and advice in public health intelligence, in a developing range of formats
- Provide modelling and analysis (e.g. forecasting, configurations, cost/benefit implications)

**Ka kawea e koe | You will bring**:

- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

**Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei |Work that suits today's ever -changing world**

Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi. In roles that don't require an in-person element, we encourage you to ‘work from where you are.' We want our national teams to be made up of diverse people from across the motu, just like our health system.

**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**

When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, that will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa, and future generations.

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.

We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience, and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific, and Disabled People.

**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion**
