The Department of Corrections is a leading organisation in the field of psychological approaches to managing criminal behavior. We are committed to providing high-quality psychological services and are recognised internationally for our expertise. We are currently seeking a Senior Advisor Psychology with significant experience working as a psychologist in the criminal justice system. This position offers opportunities for career development and progression within the department. The Senior Advisor will provide information and advice to internal and external stakeholders on psychological services and processes, support staff training, and assist in responding to legislative requests. The role also involves incorporating cultural responsiveness and contributing to efforts to improve care for Māori individuals. The Senior Advisor will work closely with the Manager of High Intensity Psychology Programmes, managing high-risk individuals to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that prioritise public safety. Additionally, the role requires responding to requests from other agencies, providing recommendations, and maintaining the integrity of psychological services and information. Joining a specialised team of experienced psychologists, the successful applicant will have opportunities for professional development and training within the field and the organisation as a whole.

**The successful applicant will have**:

- A minimum of Master's Degree in Psychology
- Hold a current practicing certificate as a Registered Psychologist
- Hold extensive practice experience as a Senior Psychologist, with expertise as a supervisor and high level psychological health assessor
- Practical knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand criminal justice sector and relevant legislation and policies
- Excellent communication, written and problem solving capability
- Excellent understanding on research methodologies
- Desire to utilise their psychological skills in a National Office Environment
