**Te tūnga | The role**
Stats NZ is in the process of refreshing the Information Systems Strategic Plan and transforming the way we collect data. We need someone with the category management expertise, experience, and intellect to find what industry has to offer and source smartly to balance the organisations immediate needs with longer term goals.
The role of Senior Procurement Specialist (ICT Category Manager) is with the Procurement team. The Procurement team is responsible for providing Stats NZ with expert commercial advice and procurement practice for the higher value, higher complexity acquisitions.
As ICT Category Manager, your interfacing with Industry will represent the interests of Stats NZ in our role as the lead agency for government-held data, and you will ensure the voice of industry is heard internally in support the Stats NZ outputs and priorities. You will provide strategic and commercial advice and support to the senior leadership of Stats NZ, work and consult with Stats Technology Services senior leadership, the Principal Advisor - Digital Assets and Investment and the ICT Architecture team, to ensure procurements are aligned to Stats ICT strategy.
You will be responsible to coordinate and develop annual procurement plans, procurement strategies and procurement reporting.
As the Senior Procurement Specialist, both your IQ and EQ will be tested as you meet the needs of our ~1,600 Stats NZ employees over three main sites. You will also support the NZ Census where required and acquire shared services for other agencies. You will need to understand the business needs, work programmes and objectives to deliver the tactical procurement using the resources of the acquisition/project team.
Daily you will be responsible for anticipating and managing the legal, reputational and procurement risks associated with procurement activities across the organisation. As a senior member of the Procurement team, you will mentor and coach junior Procurement Staff ensuring consistent delivery of quality procurement advice and support services across Stats NZ.
The Procurement team at Stats NZ operates as an integral part of the Commercial Arrangements Branch within the Organisation Infrastructure Group which is one of seven groups that report directly to the Chief Executive.
