**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

As the **Senior Procurement Specialist**, you'll provide specialist procurement leadership, advice, mentorship and assistance across the Department. The team is close knit, recognises each other's strengths and achieves great results together. They manage procurement for the huge range of products and services required to ensure the smooth running of our prison system. This role will primarily support our asset management and digital teams, as well as supporting the federated model with procurement across some of our more complex construction and development contracts, such as Waikeria, Christchurch Men's Prison and our three-waters programme.

You will take a strategic view to procurement and use your knowledge of Government Procurement Principles, including Procurement 2.0, to show a progressive approach to your procurement discussions. This role is busy and varied with accountabilities that include:

- Working with the Director Procurement, Manager Strategic Procurement and other Managers within the IDA team to lead the development of the strategy, planning, frameworks and contracts for the procurement of major contracts
- Managing relationships with all federated model participants of procurement, both within the National Office environment and our Regional Office colleagues
- Working closely with business units and suppliers, bring critical thinking to better understand and meet needs to deliver best public value
- Ensuring that the business units use appropriate methodologies are being applied and implemented to all procurement activities
- Leading the end-to-end conduct of tender processes for complex and/or high value/risk procurement projects, when required
- Mentoring and providing advice to team members.

**Ngā pūkenga e kimi ana mātou | What you will bring to the role**
- A minimum of five years' experience in a strategic role, particularly across the physical asset/construction and ICT spaces
- An eye for detail and to ensure that documents supporting our strategic procurement initiatives pass the closest of scrutiny
- The ability to build strong relationships across the board
- CIPS qualified (or studying towards obtaining CIPS qualification) or similar.
