NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand’s government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities.

While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system - government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement. And yes, we have some procurement specialists

**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**: We are seeking multiple outstanding procurement specialists to work on a wide range of projects for the New Zealand Government.

The Advisory and Business Services team includes highly skilled deployable commercial specialists within NZGP responsible for providing quality advice and support to government agencies on their significant commercial projects and work programmes. The current vacancies will have the opportunity to work on some external work but will focus on the All of Government contract return to market activity. This is an opportunity to lead and contribute to the commercial strategy and sourcing activity for some of the largest and most widely used contracts across government.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- Appropriate experience in procurement and associated functions - preferably 5-8 years in senior-intermediate level procurement role for senior role. Procurement Specialist role suits early career procurement practitioners or people looking to transition to a procurement career.
- Understanding of Government Procurement policies and processes is beneficial but not required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills: demonstrated competence in effectively communicating ideas both orally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.
- Delivering major/significant procurement projects to scope, time and budget and achieving successful procurement outcomes.
- Experience leading RFx processes and developing commercial strategies. Significant experience required for the senior role, developing expertise are appropriate for the specialist role.
- Rapidly and accurately identifies key risks, issues or actions in complex situations.
- Presenting to government agencies at forums or in a workshop setting
- Demonstrating good government procurement practice. Providing advice on capability support
- Influencing earlier planning of procurement initiatives, using information and engagement to generate better outcomes for agencies
- Encouraging agencies to use existing collaborative contracts where they meet the needs of the agency
- Relevant qualification or membership in area of specialism or related business discipline - for example, MCIPS is desirable.

Senior Procurement Specialist salary $101,911 - $121,196

**Procurement Specialist salary**: $75,144 - $88,266
