**Te tūnga | The role**
The Procurement team at Stats NZ operates as an integral part of Financial Group acting as an enabler to Stats NZ business units. Conducting procurement in a 'centre-led' manner, the Procurement team champions the quality of execution of the end-to-end procurement process - from identifying business need, through to contract execution and management. We are a team of four and provide safeguarding, servicing and shaping procurement activities across a wide range of Stats requirements.
Our busy team needs someone to join us who:
- thinks quickly on their feet and can prioritise and juggle work without dropping the ball
- is highly organised, able to see the finer detail as well as the bigger picture
- Is well versed and confident in using their initiative and being proactive, initiating change and improvements where and when needed
- Is a confident communicator - verbally and in writing with exceptional organisational, administration and coordination skills. Is computer savvy with intermediate to advanced Excel skills and a good working knowledge of the MS Office suite.
- Is also a people-person, keen to help others and you take pride in getting it right the first time.
As a team, we run at full steam and at times have to work in a pressure cooker environment, so being resilient and having a cool, calm and collected nature will work well when we're under the pump.
This is a multi-faceted position where no two days are the same and thinking and acting quickly is required. Your role will see you dealing with a variety of stakeholders both internally across different specialist areas, and externally. So the ability to manage and foster relationships is imperative.
You'll be heavily involved in supporting others in the team (including the Senior Procurement Specialists), and others across Stats NZ: administrators, analysts and managers alike NZ You'll be contributing to the development and implementation of procurement strategies and plans, conducting some procurement activities from start to finish (with support from others in the team where needed). You'll also prepare various procurement reports, maintain the Stats NZ Contracts Register and support others in the team by uploading tender documentation on GETS and coordinating correspondence to keep communication open between external and internal stakeholders. Ideally you will have experience in public sector procurement. However, this is a growth position and is a great opportunity if you are currently studying towards procurement..
We offer unparalleled professional opportunities where you'll find yourself amongst highly skilled and talented individuals in their respective areas of expertise. Everyone here is making a difference and helping shape and build New Zealand's future.
**Nōu te rourou | What you bring**
Working closely with teams across the organisation, you will be required to build positive and productive relationships. You will be highly organised, self -managing, able to work independently and as part of a cross functional team. You will be familiar with techniques and frameworks of your discipline and be comfortable learning in a high paced environment.
We are looking for a motivated individual with the following in your cover letter and CV:
- Why Tatauranga Aotearoa - Stats NZ is the place for you, why us, and why Government?
- Examples of excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Examples of your strong experience working with leaders and people at all levels of the organisation in a high-change environment.
- Information about your knowledge and experience, or desire to learn and build knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori, and engagement with Māori.
- Examples of where you've demonstrated or encouraged diversity and inclusion in and/or outside of work.
- Demonstration of your understanding of the machinery of government and related processes and procedures
- Have a thorough and up to date understanding of Procurement best practice
- Strong customer service and relatio
