**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**About the role**

We are seeking a passionate and driven Māori law graduate to join AMP for a 2-year fixed-term opportunity to support the wider Legal & Governance team with the implementation of initiatives which drive business strategy.

The successful Graduate Lawyer can expect to be supported with their professional legal studies (College of Law NZ), membership to Te Hunga Rōiā, and provided access to mentoring and learning opportunities through external legal firms.

**We’re looking for**:

- Recent graduate of Bachelor of Laws or equivalent,
- Passion for the law and a commitment to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi,
- Ability to balance commercial and legal judgement with business risk to provide good business outcomes,
- Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.

- Tangata Whenua Partnership: We have developed a relationship with the local Tangata Whenua, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, and collaborated on naming and blessing our Tuia office (Auckland). This partnership signifies our commitment to fostering connections with the local community and embracing Māori cultural values.
- Pūrākau and Whakataukī: We have developed our own Pūrākau (stories) and whakataukī (proverbs) to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of Māori culture. These narratives form the foundation of our cultural ethos and guide our actions.
- Supporting Māori Business: We actively connect our work to an emerging Māori business, providing them with a platform to showcase their art. Through this collaboration, we establish a stronger bond and promote the growth of Māori entrepreneurship.
- Cultural Competency Consultation: We engage with Maurea Consulting, a local Iwi business, to enhance our understanding of cultural competency and Te Kaa (Māori protocols). This partnership enables us to develop a deep appreciation for Māori values and ensures that our actions align with the aspirations of Māori communities.
- Inclusion and Community: We have established the Māori rōpū (alongside Pasifika and Philippine groups) to encourage community and cultural participation within our organisation. This group fosters an inclusive environment that values diversity and celebrates Māori culture.
