The Risk team provides independent and objective, risk advisory services to assist Oranga Tamariki management to deliver on its strategic priorities and meet its accountabilities. We work closely with our Senior Leadership Team and receive a high level of support in the functions we perform.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Risk and Assurance function has recently moved into the Office of the CE. The Senior Risk Advisor reports to the tier 3, Head of Risk, and has a strong linkage with the Head of Assurance and the Assurance team. This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting journey as the function focuses on uplifting the trust, credibility and value add it provides to stakeholders.
The Senior Advisor Risk is responsible for providing high quality tailored advice to managers and staff on all aspects of Oranga Tamariki risk activities. The Senior Advisor will lead risk workshops, support the design and delivery of risk training, support the planning and delivery of the risk management business plan, and support general risk reporting and advice.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or knowledge gained through relevant experience
- Ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information and make effective, well-reasoned decisions
- Excellent attention to detail, both written and numerical, and commitment to quality
- Excellent interpersonal skills - able to adapt these to suit the needs of the audience, able to influence others to accept ideas/strategies
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.

Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual appointing remuneration for this Band 17 position starts between $100,441.00 and $111,601.00 dependant on experience, with annual tenure-based progression steps available above this range.
