**About the Team**:
The Ship Technical Systems Advice team provides advice and support on matters relating to the design, construction and equipment of ships from a technical and functional perspective. The team provides its stakeholders with a tangible link between the standards of regulation and the physical realities of ships in service. The team also provides support on matters relating to:

- Physical assets of the maritime system, such as aids to navigation
- Training, advice and strategy for Flag State & Port State Control activities
- Surveyors and Recognised Organisations
- International and domestic policy, where it involves technical requirements for ships
- Incident response & readiness

**What you'll do**:
The main purpose of the role is to lead and manage a dedicated and cohesive team of Principal and Senior Advisors who provide specialist technical maritime advice & support to services and outputs; as well as systems design thinking and a strong interest and pro-active monitoring of emerging technologies in the maritime sector.

**What we're looking for**:
To be successful in this role you will have the following;
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent such as Marine Engineer, Master Mariner, Naval Architecture or similar;
- Proven success leading and developing a team of professional specialist technical staff;
- Well-versed in developing and delivering against budgets and programmes of work;
- Ability to translate complex technical content into meaningful, appropriate language for decision-makers;
- Ability to influence and collaborate across the organisation and with external stakeholders

This role is based in Wellington, New Zealand. Please also note that you must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand to be considered for this role. This role is permanent, full time with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week and has a salary range of $155,329 - $207,105.
