We are embarking on a strategy to reposition Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga/ Ministry of Education's, digital landscape and connect the provision of digital services within the Ministry and, increasingly, to customers across the sector, partner agencies, and ultimately teachers/principals, ākonga and their whānau. As a member of Te Uepū Matihiko (Digital/IT Group) you will help champion this change as we transform the way we work.

In this newly created role you will provide advice, guidance, and governance to support system wide implementation of technology and related cybersecurity risk. Your consultative approach will help lift the assurance maturity to ensure business leaders understand their security and risk-related obligations to positively lean in to adapt to changes and demands.

**The scope of the role includes**:

- Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the security framework including governance processes, policies, and procedures to ensure cyber security risks are appropriately managed
- Manage a team who provide advice and guidance on cyber security risk and assurance best practice
- Ensure cyber security controls assurance services are designed and assessed to operate effectively (including Authority to Operate and C&A process) and hold up to audits
- Lead the delivery of cybersecurity governance, assurance, risk (including third-party risk management), and compliance programs and initiatives to help understand, measure, and manage the technology cyber-risk profile that underpins the business's strategic goals.
- Act as a conduit between technology and cybersecurity assurance programs on annual risk and control assessment plans ensuring security incident and risk management reporting is conducted
- Understand and maintain our contracted security obligations and 3rd-party supply chain risks including the planning, development and establishment of the necessary documentations, procedures, and related policy

Roles are located in Wellington though we are open to remote working with regular travel to Wellington as required.
Salary band $155,481- $190,032 + 3% kiwi saver
- The appointing salary will depend on level of experience, skills, and relativity.
Mōhou ake | About you
You will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in information technology and security management principals, with the ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the challenges of managing a contemporary information security function in an enterprise environment.
- Previous assurance experience monitoring a cyber security function providing recommendations to enhance and maintain a comprehensive cyber security program
- Confidence to consult with the security architecture group on developing, implementing, and administering technical security standards, and security services and tools to address and mitigate security risk
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Experience with and understanding of key industry control frameworks (e.g., NZISM, NIST Cyber Security Framework, COSO, COBIT, ISO 27000)
- Extensive knowledge of business risk, risk assessment and risk-based decision making
- Strong people leadership experience with a desire to coach/ mentor a growing team
- Ability to gather data, investigate and analyse information while being able to draw conclusions and issue recommendations to impact business change
- The successful incumbent will require being able to gain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
