**Mō te tūranga | About the role**

You will lead a team that manages a programme of work to improve how the Crown engages and works with ngā hapū o Ngāpuhi to enable the wellbeing of Ngāpuhi uri.

This role plays an important leadership role as a strategic manager, relationship broker, facilitator and advisor. By working practically with Crown agencies through policy, investment and services, this role will help embed more effective engagement practices, and support the Crown to deliver its obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This position operates at a unique intersection of Treaty settlement, Māori Crown relationships and wellbeing.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $124,397 and $173,973, depending on skills and experience.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

- Demonstrated leadership skills to enhance office capabilities, while also coaching staff and leading negotiations when needed.
- Proven commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Familiarity with te ao Māori, with te reo Māori capability preferred.
- Skilled in facilitation across social, economic, and environmental sectors, especially in Kaupapa Māori and Māori Crown collaborations.
- Experience managing complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability working across agencies and with iwi/Māori partners and other regional stakeholders to achieve results
- Strong knowledge of Ministerial and Cabinet processes, statutory decision making, as well as problem-solving, relationship management and influencing skills
- Strong policy skills, excellent written skills and ability to brief for different audiences.
