We are currently looking for a Manager Community Place - Library, where you will join our passionate and highly motivated team, responsible for leading day-to-day operational management of the library, including responsibility for financial and staffing allocations.

The space you will be managing is becoming a Kia ora te Whānau Hub. Responding to whānau aspiration for wellbeing. The three pou this whare operates under are:

- Pou Mātauranga: An inclusive approach to activate spaces to learn and play.
- Pou Hauora: Whānau live well, are happy and healthy.
- Pou Ōritetanga: Equitable access to facilities to grow community wellbeing Kaupapa.

You will create effective community practice, addressing needs and priorities of the local board and local communities, and provide a safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff. The Manurewa community is young and ethnically diverse with a high proportion of Māori residents.

Among others, your day-to-day duties will be to:

- Facilitate and grow community and partner-led activity to deliver services including programmes and events and provide facility and people management which meets the needs of our diverse community
- Collaboratively manage the recruitment and induction of staff for the local board team, as well as the mentoring, upskilling and coaching of existing staff
- Lead and develop our community-based staff for delivering excellence in visitor experiences, ensuring through your work that Te ao Māori is evident in all aspects of service design and delivery

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We need someone who can lead and inspire their team and who has the ability to mentor and develop the potential of their people. As well as a passion for leading the delivery of excellent customer service, programmes, and events to the local community, you’ll be able to connect your team to the strategic direction and vision of Connected Communities and Auckland Council.

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable effective involvement in a range of community settings and events and will be combined with the ability to develop and build strong stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.

You understand the importance of relationships with Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau and have knowledge of local iwi and places of importance to them.

This is a full-time opportunity requiring flexibility to work across the Manurewa Local Board. This role is currently based at Waimāhia Library (6-day service) working 40 hours per week on a variable schedule.
