Regional Treaty Partner Strategy Manager Salary range is between $98,056 to $139,153 depending on skills and experience.
Permanent full-time role, based in Whakatāne (preferred), Gisborne, Rotorua or Tauranga.

Te Papa Atawhai values the principles of Te Tiriti and in particular are looking for ways to grow our role as a better partner and grow genuine relationships with Māori at iwi, hapū and whānau level.
We are looking for someone who is up for a challenge in working alongside our Kaihautū Matarautaki and leadership team to steer our Eastern North Island team forward with a focus on providing strategic advice, knowledge, and support to better understand how we can better operate when it comes to engaging, working and having relationships in meaningful ways that replicates the principles of Te Tiriti.
Along with operationalising strategy and settlement into achieving outcomes for te Taiao at place with tangata whenua, you will be supporting our Kaihautū Matarautaki / Operations Director for the Eastern North Island Region.
You will be responsible for supporting us all to build strong meaningful relationships, in partnership with our whānau, hapū and iwi, to deliver on our conservation goals and to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The preferred location for this role is Whakatāne but we are also open to considering other locations - Gisborne, Rotorua or Tauranga and there will be travel within the region.
This role calls on your experience across Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori, commitment and passion for Te Taiao, and ability to work strategically and collaboratively.
You will be fluent in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and have a strong knowledge of tikanga Māori, kaitiakitanga, wairuatanga, manaakitanga and iwitanga.
Proven relationship management experience is needed to assist you to comfortably engage and work in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua.
In addition, you will have: Strong communication style both verbal and written.
Understanding and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, its principles and implications on society and conservation.
An understanding of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga Māori operating in a space where principles such as whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, mahaki are a part of your individual make up.
Strategic mindset with ability to map out strategic direction alongside the leadership team.
Up for turning challenges into opportunities with a solution focused mindset.
A genuine approach with a commitment to looking forward, thinking outside the box to break down barriers allowing for growth, development and change when working with Whānau, Hāpu, Iwi practicing true partnership values.
Experience working collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge and experience working with business, Government Departments and Local Authorities is desirable.
Experience in coaching and mentoring others.
Ability to work with strategy and operationalize into focused outcomes.

It is also desirable to have an existing relationship to or understanding of the iwi landscape of the Eastern North Island rohe - covering Rotorua, Tauranga Moana, Eastern Bay of Plenty, East Coast through to Tairāwhiti.
