Who we are

Our client is on a mission to revolutionize drug and alcohol treatment through an innovative Māori program. By utilizing mana and wairua-enhancing, strengths-based Te Ao Māori practices, they aim to create a transformative recovery environment.

About the role

The Clinical Team Leader will spearhead a team dedicated to supporting individuals in custodial settings facing substance-related challenges. Employing strengths-based Te Ao Māori practices, they will help individuals shed old habits and develop sustainable recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a Multidisciplinary Team: Guide and support a diverse team in delivering culturally grounded therapeutic interventions.
  • Program Design and Oversight: Develop and manage psycho-educational groups and one-on-one Māori-led therapeutic interventions.
  • Cultural Enrichment: Ensure programs are infused with kawa and tikanga for comprehensive, holistic care.
  • Adapt and Innovate: Continuously refine the therapeutic model to meet the evolving needs of those in custody.

About you

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Qualifications: Registration as an AOD Clinician with a current full APC, DAPAANZ, or equivalent.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage and support teams in complex environments.
  • Custodial Experience: Preferably with experience in custodial settings, AOD treatment units, or AOD residential programs.
  • Team Development: Skill in fostering team growth and collaborating with custodial officers.
  • Values-Driven: A strong commitment to placing whanau at the heart of their work.
  • Integrity and Empathy: High personal integrity, empathy, and compassion.
  • Belief in Change: Confidence in the potential for change with appropriate support.
  • Relational Skills: Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with whanau.
  • Resilience: Determination and resilience to face challenges.
  • Clearance: Ability to pass criminal conviction checks and gain approval to work in Auckland Prison.
  • Driver's License: Full NZ driver's license.
