Financial Planning & Reporting Manager

This iconic Kiwi company is looking for an outstanding experienced finance professional to join their close knit Wellington-based Finance team for a fixed term 12 month maternity leave contract starting in early August.

As the Planning & Reporting Manager, you'll deliver the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and insightful monthly reporting for both internal and external audiences so that readers understand their financial performance and are well-placed to make informed decisions. You will lead and inspire your team, creating an environment for them to succeed and grow.

Each day will be different but here's some of what you can expect from this role:
  • You'll foster an open, fun, positive and high performing culture
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with Senior Management and People Leaders, whilst ensuring good communication and trust
  • You'll work closely with the business and have an expert level of understanding of key performance drivers, as well as oversight on strategic and business priorities across all areas
  • You'll lead the month-end close process, ensuring this is completed within time frames, and helping the team to remove any roadblocks
  • You'll oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and the delivery of reporting to Leaders, Senior Management, and the Board
  • You'll lead the preparation of the Board Pack, working closely with the Commercial teams to provide insightful commentary on performance, and the future outlook
  • You'll prepare insightful lender presentations, with engaging management commentary and reference to the broader macro environment and how this affects our business
  • You'll lead the Budget and Quarterly Forecast processes, delivering an accurate output that highlights financial risk and opportunities
  • You'll deliver a long-term forecast that provides insight into the impact of strategic decisions across the business, with inputs and assumptions challenged along the way
  • You'll demonstrate a critical mindset and challenge peers and Senior Management as required
  • The CFO and Head of Finance will be well supported with ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required to deliver on our strategic priorities
  • You'll coach and mentor 4 direct reports, setting clear expectations, promoting growth opportunities and having courageous conversations as required
Ideally, you will bring:
  • Chartered Accountant or equivalent
  • 7+ years' FP&A experience in a large corporate environment
  • Experienced with a medium-large FMIS and planning tools
  • People leadership experience is preferred
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to spot areas to improve efficiency
  • Attention to detail alongside a pragmatic and grounded approach, able to visualise the overall desired outcome
  • Have the knowledge and strong oral and written communication skills to rapidly gain credibility with and influence key stakeholders
  • An interest in sharing your knowledge to help others grow and develop
  • Expert excel and financial modelling skills
