Transpower is the commercially focused and regulated State-Owned Enterprise that owns and operates the National Grid.

At the very centre of the energy sector, we transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution companies who deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.

About the team

About the opportunity
The is a great role for someone curious with an interest in the energy/decarbonisation and financial planning and modelling.

You'll get an enterprise view of Transpower and build relationships across the business which will only support your career growth over time with us.


Reporting to and working with our Financial Planning and Reporting Manager, you'll develop financial models that effectively monitor and forecast financial performance, provide financial modelling & scenario analysis for effective decision making for capital structure, and funding decisions supporting the development of 15-year financial models.

You'll influence financial decisions through strategic insights to support sound decision making and planning at executive level.


Collaborating with our finance business partners, treasury, CFO, Regulatory, and Strategy functions to develop 15 years financial forecasts, understand financial performance against regulatory allowances, funding requirements, affordability, and challenges.

You will be part of the team that provide business planning.


With a continuous improvement mind-set, you will develop models and reporting strategies and policies which guide our analysis to improve processes and ways of working.


What will you bring?


To be considered, you'll hold a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., commerce, business, engineering, or science) and have an astute relationship management ability.


Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:

  • Well-developed modelling skills
  • building and maintaining financial models for large corporate entities for P&L, Balance sheet, and Cashflow, Discounted Cashflow valuation models.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including developing material for a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Comfort when using the Microsoft Office suite (Excel at advanced level, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams)
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex financial and project data
Certification (CA, CPA, CMA, CFM), while not essential, is advantageous.
