Fleet is an exciting and challenging area to work in - it is one of the most dynamic and interesting areas of our organisation, which helps provide and service one of the country's largest vehicle fleets with over 3700 specialist vehicles.


The Fleet Services Group (FSG) delivers a continuous Vehicle Renewal Programme to maintain a Police vehicle fleet that is fit-for-purpose, keeps our people safe, and is sustainable for the future.

Approximately 500 vehicles are replaced each financial year.

We're looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to join our dedicated and focused Fleet Management team. This is a permanent, full-time role based at Police National Headquarters.


As the Project Coordinator, you will report to the Manager Investment and Delivery assisting in administering and coordinating the various aspects of NZ Police fleet and its' projects.

This includes the purchasing and disposal of vehicles and overseeing the lease vehicle programme.

All this while, coordinating and providing project support to our team who engage with and work in partnership with project stakeholders.

This will include attending meetings, record keeping, and reporting along with supporting the team in the delivery of initiatives, as a part of a varied and dynamic programme.

You work well independently and as a collaborative team member, utilising effective problem-solving and time management skills. Fundamental knowledge and experience of planning, executing, controlling, and closing of projects is desired.

Your strengths include great communication, attention to detail, organisation, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

You are result-oriented and self-motivated.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage all vehicle Fleet records and Fleet asset data ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and templates for the collection of Fleet Services information and ensure these are accessible across the Fleet Maintenance network.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on Fleet Services processes for continual improvement.
  • Provide support to Manager Investment and Delivery for the planning, implementing and delivery of the Fleet Asset Renewal Plan and Leasing Plan.
  • Provide administrative support and assistance to the programme and projects as directed by Manager Investment and Delivery, including invoicing, payments, and lease administration.
