Are you an experienced Senior Advisor looking for a new and fresh opportunity in Government or an Advisor wanting to step up into a Senior Advisor role?

We have a great opportunity in Te Puni Kōkiri (Ministry of Māori Development) for a Senior Advisor to join our Te Tai Hauāuru Rohe in the Regional Partnerships and Operations Puni.

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

The Senior Advisor is responsible for assisting whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities to develop and implement initiatives that will enable them to achieve long-term economic and social development.

The Advisor will work with agencies, organisations and providers to assist them to improve their outcomes for Māori.
The appointment range for this role is $86k - $132k per annum.

If you possess the following, then we want to hear from you:

  • Experience in working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities
  • Proven effective use of project management disciplines to support work
  • Understanding of the government and the public service and public sector processes understanding the rationale and mechanisms of government intervention i.e. reasons for government intervention, the available intervention mechanisms and alternatives to government interventions
  • Understanding of the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi to the work being undertaken
  • Excellent communication skills including a conversational level of Te Reo Māori
  • Ability to identify, build and actively manage significant relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences
  • A clean full motor vehicle driver's licence
