We are looking for an ambitious and experienced H&S Advisor to assist us on this exciting once-in-a-lifetime project in the Wellington/Marlborough regions.

The purpose of this role is to support the Health and Safety Manager and construction teams to provide health, safety and well-being support. This role is accountable for the implementation, support and monitoring of health and safety management requirements and initiatives across the project.

**Day to day, you will bring key skills to bear, including**:

- An in-depth understanding and knowledge of safety in large-scale civil construction, roading construction and maintenance.
- Excellent investigative and reporting skills, working to ensure all investigations, documentation, and reporting is completed to a high standard.
- Strong people skills, with an ability to work with our construction teams to identify, implement and maintain industry-leading safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills - this role will lead in bringing people on to our project, via our project-specific induction programme.
- The ability to champion safety-related initiatives and programmes on the project. Being visible out in the field with our crews is a key part of this role.
- An understanding and appreciation for Tikanga Māori, and an ability to work with all stakeholders to ensure optimal safety outcomes

**About you**

Ideally, you will have:

- A high level of knowledge and understanding of health & safety legislation
- Formal qualification in an H&S discipline
- Experience with high-risk work activities
- A strong work ethic and a desire to make a difference by supporting our construction teams and their front-line leaders
- Be a team player
- A proven track record in driving a ‘just culture’ that supports H&S management, encouraging and rewarding excellence.
- Experience in verification protocols aimed at attaining ACC Accredited Employer Programme accreditation
- The ability to influence H&S in planning and implementation stages of work activities with aim to create a zero-harm culture
- Strong leadership, mentorship and relationship building skills
