This newly established team sits within the Corporate Group.

As a team of security specialists covering physical and information security we support the work of the New Zealand Ombudsman.

The team delivers policy and operational security advice, guidance and support to our people to achieve security uplift across the organisation.

This will be integral role in establishing the team.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Protective Security to advise on all aspects of physical and personnel security along with identifying and assessing threats to the organisation and designing mitigations.

As an integral member of the security team, you will be challenged with maintaining and continuously improving the effectiveness and quality of the organisations security in support of the business.

We utilise international best practice security methodologies and an innovative approach to continually challenge and improve our security levels.

This means you will be at the forefront of the development of policies and procedures to make sure they are fit for purpose.

Please note this is not an Information or Cyber Security role.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in security or a relevant field and/or as least 5 years equivalent work experience in a similar position.
  • Extensive experience in physical and/or personnel security or equivalent.
  • Indepth knowledge of current physical and personnel security standards and practices such as the PSR.
  • Sound understanding of the role of the Ombudsman in the New Zealand constitutional framework
  • Experience in managing relationships and working in collaboration and partnership with key internal, external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to articulate complex messages clearly, simply and concisely.
  • Experience in evaluating threats and risks as it relates to security
  • Proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Experience leading projects and pieces of work through to completion.
  • Experience working in the public sector
