Are you a passionate protective security practitioner?Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The purpose of the role of the Principal Advisor Protective Security is to support the Chief Information Security Officer in providing the Chief Executive of Waka Kotahi with assurance that the Transport Agency has a robust security framework in accord with the Government's Protective Security Requirements, and the capability, practices and procedures to effectively maintain and deliver that framework.

The Principal Advisor Protective Security will develop and lead the protective security work programmes, policies, protocols and guidelines, and contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong and suitable safety and security culture.

Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in the production of security policies and procedures
  • Provision of protective security advice to specific projects, events and problems
  • Experience in conducting security investigations and providing advice and lessons learned from the outcomes.
  • Experience in security clearance lifecycle management.
  • Proven experience in using a 'threatdriven, riskbased, operationally focussed' approach.
  • Strong communication skills, including business writing skills and preparing documentation for a senior audience.
  • Significant experience and capability of working with a diverse range of senior external and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
