- Support the Director of Information Security


You can contribute to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand by providing information security and cyber security (INFOSEC), policy, strategy, architecture and risk management advice within the department, across both field and corporate functions.


  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Protective Security Requirements (PSR) and the New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM).
  • Support the Director INFOSEC Advisory to develop INFOSEC policy, strategy, architecture and risk management programmes across the department.
  • Work closely with BAU and project teams to support the identification of information security risk and monitor the implementation of mitigations.
  • Provide expert information security advice across the department as it relates policy, strategy, architecture and risk management.
  • Engage with Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB). Government CDO and Government CISO as required for areas related to INFOSEC.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • In depth understanding of the NZISM and PSR.
  • Experience working in a complex government environment.
  • Technical skill and experience in INFOSEC assurance and consultancy.
  • Risk management experience, preferably INFOSEC related and/or internal audit experience.
  • Significant experience in a security or risk management or internal audit role;
  • Significant experience in a security technical discipline;
  • Proven experience working directly with and supporting senior leadership at a strategic level; and
  • Proven experience as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
