Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

We are looking for an Adviser to work with a dynamic national team to support the implementation and delivery of farmer lead extension services programmes catchment groups across New Zealand.

This is an opportunity to work in a high profile and challenging but very rewarding area. You will be working across MPI, the primary sector, government and industry.

You will be supporting the delivery of catchment group programmes that better enable the farmers and growers to adapt to the changing environment.


You will:

  • Provide support in the management of regional contracts for delivering extension services through the effective implementation of organisational processes and procedures (e.g. health and safety, recruitment, financial, planning, monitoring and measuring, reporting).
  • Liase with the team to produce communication material that can be provided to the relevant channels
  • Assist with developing, ministerial correspondence, including ministerials, aides memoire, briefings, parliamentary questions, and Official Information Act request responses.
Mōu - About You

The successful applicant will have:

  • A tertiary level qualification in related area or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of sustainable land use issues, particularly climate change, and extension services in the primary sector
  • Experience in tikanga Māori to facilitate engagement processes and to effectively present information to different groups
  • A strong track record of delivering
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of New Zealand's Emissions Reduction Plan and National Adaptation Plan (desirable)
  • Knowledge of MPI business environment, its strategic priorities, strengths and weaknesses (desirable).
