Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role

This is a Fixed Term position until the 28 June 2024, your role will be to support the effective delivery of programmes in the Māori Agribusiness Directorate.

Our funding includes the Māori Agribusiness Extension (MABx) programme, Māori Agribusiness Pathway to Increased Productivity (MAPIP) programme, and the Sustainable Food and Fibres Futures (SFFF) fund.

Our funding supports Māori to maximise the benefits from the sustainable and productive use of their primary sector assets.

If you are skilled in the development and implementation of effective investment strategies and best practice to support Māori landowners and agribusinesses in the primary sector, we would love to speak with you.

You will be working closely with the programme office and MAB regional advisors across our funds, providing investment analysis and guidance as well as directly supporting a range of projects through the funding lifecycle.

Success in this role is the ability to be strategic, and to identify and act on opportunities.

An appreciation of Māori tikanga and te reo, as well as an in-depth understanding of the Māori economy and the primary sector is important in this role.

Bring your tertiary degree (economics, management, law, government, resource management, biological sciences, etc.)
and/or corresponding / relevant work experience along to:

  • Contribute to a team culture which places value on te ao Māori and the Treaty partnership
  • Experience leading projects and achieving effective outcomes in situations where there are diverse interests
  • Experience working with a diverse range of people, interests and skills

The Māori Agribusiness (MAB) Directorate is responsible for contributing to the identification and implementation of viable primary sector economic development opportunities through the provision of information, intelligence and advice on issues specific to Māori; for ensuring MPI and MAB are well connected and engaged with relevant Māori fora, initiatives and people; and for providing advice and informing MPI on Māori-related issues and impacts.
