Salary ranges for the roles are $92,073 to $124,570 (Senior Adviser), and $109,626 to $148,318 (Principal Adviser), depending on skills and experience.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Roles

The Planning and Strategy Advisers are exciting positions that will work across Biosecurity New Zealand to support the Business Unit with the direction and structures that enable us to help to keep our incredible home, Aotearoa New Zealand, safe from pests and diseases.

These roles will work with key leaders and staff across the branch to ensure that Biosecurity New Zealand has mature Strategy and Planning tools, templates and processes in place that link MPI's strategic goals with the broader Bio Security Systems in a way that makes sense to the staff in the business.

Mōu - About You
We are looking for someone keen to take responsibility for shaping work programmes, ensuring
initiatives and projects are delivered in relation to our Strategy and Plans, including strategic planning, papers and communication materials.

This will require the ability to influence the delivery and achievement of MPI's vision by providing high quality, well researched and reasoned advice, on a range of systems, processes, activities, projects and initiatives.

You will need to demonstrate solid experience in the following:

  • Experience providing high-quality advice and support across strategy development and implementation
  • Experience supporting an organisation to convert a Strategy into an achievable plan
  • Experience establishing and managing relationships and consultation with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including experience in determining stakeholder and customer requirements and establishing mechanisms for meeting these.
  • A sound understanding of the machinery of Government, including understanding of how government agencies function and their key processes, particularly planning, budgetary and reporting cycles.
  • A strong track record of leading priority events, and complex projects and programmes of work to successful delivery at pace.
  • Experience in identifying, analysing, and managing risk.
  • Experience in dealing with complex problems and the ability to provide advice on sensitive business decisions, including those with financial and people impact.
  • A Graduate level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential, and ideally a Postgraduate qualification.
