This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.
The remuneration range for this role is $101,787 to $143,699 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity

As our Senior Land Development Engineer, you will be one of our experts in providing Three Waters advice and information relating to consenting the development of land.

This includes assessing the Three-Water components of land development proposals to ensure it meets Council policy, legislation, and the regional engineering standards and specifications for becoming part of the Three Waters infrastructure.


In this role you will also:

  • take the lead on complex issues, review work and provide timely support and technical guidance to the team
- advise applicants of approved plans, conditions and fees required for permits and connections
- coordinate with Water and Drainage Inspectors
- undertake onsite inspections to check for authenticity of completed work
- create public drainage permits for new additions or alternations for the public Three Waters network.

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • bachelor of engineering (Civil), MIPENZ (preferred)
- minimum eight years post qualification experience, preferably in Three Waters or land development
- knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act and Civil Engineering Practices
- analytical skills and the ability to carry out informed assessments and make meaningful decisions
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to put ideas across in a logical and coherent fashion
- outstanding relationship and stakeholder management skills combined with a strong customer service ethos.

Wellington Water is the Wellington region's professional water services provider.

We are 100 per cent council owned and funded by Wellington City, Hutt City, Porirua City, and Upper Hutt City councils, Greater Wellington Regional Council and South Wairarapa District Council.
