The team:


At Parliamentary Service, we work at the heart of democracy to provide excellent service to New Zealand's Members of Parliament.

Our service includes our IST Group who is at the forefront of delivering and providing guidance around information systems, technology and communication services to key parliamentary entities including Parliamentary Service and The Office of the Clerk.


The IST Group is a highly motivated and diverse team that consists of Cyber Security, Customer Experience, Operations and the new Business Solutions team.

About the role:
In this newly created position, you'll be wearing several hats, including:


  • Business planning & strategic decision making: You'll play a pivotal role driving the ongoing development and delivery of the IST strategy and roadmap. You'll be tasked with ensuring the roadmap is delivered and updated in-line with our strategic horizons.

Optimising processes & practices: working with stakeholders across both Parliamentary Service and The Office of the Clerk, you'll strive to understand their needs, the sequencing of their workplans and work with them to ensure plans are in place to deliver the desired outcomes.

People leadership: As a people leader of the Business Solutions team, you'll ensure the support and development of your team members and lead them to achieve organisational objectives.

Organisational planning: you'll also be required to design processes for, and then collect and provide analysis of, key organisational performance information. These processes should enable progress against strategic and operational objectives to be measured, evaluated, effectively communicated to internal and external stakeholders, and used as the evidence-base to inform further plans.

Reporting performance: We report on our work and how IST contributes to the wider Parliamentary Service. This role is responsible for ensuring IST reporting is planned, managed and completed in a timely manner and includes complying with Parliament's financial scrutiny cycle reporting requirements.

What you will bring to the role:
Your CV will demonstrate your experience in the following:

  • Developing and managing the implementation of planning, performance and evaluation processes, and of developing performance indicators and results frameworks.
  • People leader with an ability to develop and guide a team towards achievement.
  • Management reporting within large, complex and diverse organisations.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Expertise in incident management and responsibility for the Change, Release, and Manager Incident function.
  • Working collaboratively across a dynamic organisation with crossfunctional teams.
  • Exceptional communication, engagement, influencing and facilitation skills.

The appointing salary range for this role is $ to $151,366 per annum.

Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
