Manager Strategy, Planning and Performance - Permanent full time

The purpose of the role is to enable NZQA to deliver on its strategic intentions and work programme, and meet its compliance, assurance and performance obligations.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, Strategic and Corporate Services division,this role leads the Strategy, Planning, and Performance team and the functions. The role will be responsible for leading the development and translation of NZQA's strategy into measurable actions and supporting the continual enhancement of NZQA by developing and maintaining planning, performance, and reporting systems. This also includes managing NZQA's business continuity management.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Senior government leadership experience in strategy formulation and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic and operational performance frameworks that deliver outcomes by bridging the gap between organisational goals and operational reality
  • Advanced regulatory theory experience or extensive regulatory practice experience
  • Experience in labour market / economic policy
  • Experience in performance measurement design
  • Experience in preparing statutory accountability documents
  • Excellent communication skills - highly developed skills of persuasion and influence
  • Commercial acumen combined with technical knowledge in relation to risk management and project, programme and portfolio management
  • The ability to produce high quality reports, based on analysis and interpretation of data, in a way that is meaningful to key stakeholders
