Counties Middlemore Radiology serves a population of over 530,000 in South Auckland, performing over 350,000 procedures per year, including general radiography, CT, ultrasound, MRI, mammography, vascular studies and image-guided interventional procedures.

Additionally, we have new and modern facilities in development both at Middlemore Hospital and our Manukau Health Park.

As a member of the Radiology Service, you will be joining a dedicated multidisciplinary team of radiologists, radiographers (MRTs), sonographers, nurses, RIS/PACS specialists, analysts and administrative staff.

As the Quality and Risk Manager, your role will encompass various responsibilities aimed at overseeing and enhancing the quality management system and risk assessment processes within our radiology service.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing complaints, and facilitating our accreditation with the International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) service.

By utilising your expertise in quality management, health and safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance, you will contribute significantly to maintaining our high standards of quality, safety, and patient care.

This full-time position, based Monday to Friday at Middlemore, serves the purpose of leading, coordinating, and developing our radiology services' quality assurance programs.

You will have wide-ranging involvement in the technical and clinical aspects of our work activities, with the ultimate goal of ensuring a superior patient care experience.


  • Experience in a clinical area such as medical imaging, nursing, allied health or healthcare management.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to encourage team cooperation to support and institute quality improvements
  • Experience conducting quality processes, preferably in the healthcare sector.
  • Proven experience in quality management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within New Zealand.
  • Knowledge of IANZ accreditation standards and guidelines, as well as relevant regulatory frameworks in New Zealand (e.g., Health and Disability Services Standards).
  • Experience in managing complaints, conducting investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Excellent understanding of quality improvement methodologies, tools and ISO standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and metrics to drive evidencebased decisionmaking and quality improvement initiatives
