About the Role:

Senior Manager Enterprise Risk


Due to an internal promotion, we have a rare and exciting opportunity on offer for a Senior Manager to join ASB's Enterprise Risk team on a permanent basis.

This role will lead the preparation and delivery of high-quality and timely Risk reporting to senior and executive management and ASB Board, and lead critical governance activities across ASB's risk committees.

You will also manage the delivery of annual reviews for key enterprise risk policies and frameworks and committee charters, and will be responsible for overseeing, challenging and reporting on Risk Appetite matters in line with ASB's Risk Appetite Statement.


You will act in an advisory capacity to effectively 'advise & challenge' business leaders and support Risk best practice across ASB and work collaboratively with other Line 2 Risk teams to support the development and execution of key strategic initiatives.


Your day to day will include the following:

  • Leading our risk governance team in pursuit of best practice governance and reporting processes
  • The delivery of Risk reporting to senior and executive management and ASB Board
  • Overseeing the effective operation of the Executive Risk Committee and Non-Financial Risk Committee, including managing committee charters, preparing agendas, coordinating committee papers, and monitoring escalations and matters arising
  • Collaborating with a range of senior and executive stakeholders to achieve outcomes, using excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Culture fostering a strong Risk Culture and growth mindset, role modelling the ASB 'mindsets'
  • Supporting the HO Enterprise Risk in the development, implementation and reporting of ASB's risk appetite via management of the Risk Appetite Statement
  • Making recommendations for changes to our modelling processes where appropriate

  • Significant experience with key governance processes and familiarity with operational risk, compliance or regulatory frameworks in a financial services organisation
  • Experience in leading and developing a small but high performing team
  • Ability to effectively influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including Boardlevel paper development and meeting minutes
  • Project management disciplines, including ability to manage to deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • High degree of emotional intelligence
  • Conceptual and critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Commitment to high standard of integrity and ethics
  • A process improvement mindset
