As one of the Geospatial Systems Specialists in this dedicated team based across Aotearoa, you will play a key role in delivering, maintaining, and improving fit-for-purpose geospatial systems and systems-related advice.

You will spend your days contributing to a variety of projects both business and Information Services led. You will configure GIS solutions across a variety of platforms, both web and mobile based.

As DOC is one of the only organisations running an integration between SAP and ESRI in the asset management space, you will gain key skills in the configuration of this integration.

You will manage GIS solutions through the various DOC environments through development, testing, and production.

Your work will contribute directly to supporting conservation whilst having a technology focus as everything DOC undertakes happens somewhere that is underpinned spatially.

If you have the following skills and experience, we are keen to hear from you:

  • proven interpersonal, communication and engagement skills
- ability to work effectively within a remote team environment
- excellent initiative and problem-solving skills required to provide solutions
- agility, able to be effective in a changing, dynamic, and diverse organisation
- expert knowledge and experience with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise Portal & ArcGIS Online, ESRI desktop software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop), FME and GIS system integration
- expert working knowledge of database design and SQL
- experience with Python or SAP preferable with exposure to Geocortex Essentials, HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Mō te tīma | About the team

The Geospatial Services Teams are spread across Aotearoa, including the Northern GIS Team, Central GIS Team, Christchurch GIS and the South Island Regional GIS Team.

The Geospatial Services team empowers users from across (and beyond) Te Papa Atawhai to utilise, interrogate, analyse, present, and consume integrated spatial and aspatial data to enhance prioritisation, planning, delivery and reporting on, conservation outcomes for New Zealand.

This includes a focus on GIS support for data collection, curation, visualisations, and insights across the full range of our business, and conservation work undertaken by others.


The salary range for this position is $85,757.00 to $102,432.00 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
