Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Flexibility and Markets Development Leads reporting to our Head of Market and Customer Innovation.

It's exciting times in the energy sector and we need to keep up to date and lead the way with the development and trial of novel market solutions to incentivise demand-side flexibility.

This role puts you at the heart of that and we are open to listening to new ways and ideas.


Flexibility is a hot topic in the industry and rapidly evolving, so we understand you might not tick all the boxes.

We need someone who is passionate about unlocking the value of flexibility, so if you have a natural curiosity and desire to influence New Zealand's energy future, we want to talk to you.

The role

  • Trial novel market solutions to incentive flexibility and unlock the value of flexibility to consumers, the distribution network and wider system
  • Develop relevant processes, products, services and tools to implement solutions at scale
  • Inform the development of market setting to support access to flexibility and coordination
  • Understand flexibility business models and opportunities to maximise participation
  • Liaise across the business to identify the value associated with our flexibility needs
  • Monitor and leverage insights from flexibility initiatives across NZ and globally
  • Engage in industry forums to develop aligned solutions and implement best practices
  • Manage innovative projects, including documentation, scope, budgets, risks and reporting

About you

  • Be highly motivated to grow and support innovative actions this is a hot topic in the sector, so you'll need to think outside the box
  • Strong understanding of the New Zealand electricity market and demandside flexibility; transferrable knowledge from other roles in the sector
  • Ability to implement and adopt global and local insights, markets, concepts and trends across the business
  • Be able to feel comfortable working in a dynamic environment across various crossfunctional teams
