About the Role:


The Developer Lead is responsible for the delivery and leadership of assigned specialist website projects and retainers across Plato Creative's portfolio.

They support Digital Project leads in the technical response to client proposals and RFPs. Leads a team of developers through website projects to ensure the business deliver great client outcomes and experiences.

Plato Creative is a "no egos allowed" kind of business so understanding how each team plays a part in the delivery of key projects will be important to being successful.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering development on assigned projects and retainers
  • Support Project Manager by owning and developing the technical scoping across project stages
  • Managing technical scope across the project
  • Working with assigned developers where required to deliver project to a high standard.
  • Working to establish strong working relationships with Digital Marketing team
  • Supporting proposals and new work scoping with Client Services/Partners/Project Manager/Digital Strategists
  • Delivering Digital Team objectives through helping with growing and retaining talent.
  • Providing oversight and guidance to Developers and developing Developer competencies and capabilities.
  • Inducting new staff and upskilling existing new staff
  • Code review and peer review on projects
  • Engaging with Developer team to foster ideas, thinking, and communicating change and improvements.
  • Regular review with Project Managers on process/project improvement
  • Working with Digital Strategists to improve client solutions and approach.

  • Likes setting standards and approach to development and leading improvements to development process
  • Identifies opportunities for innovation and new technology and leading review and recommendations
  • Managing and assigning internal development projects
  • Supporting the team with technical approach to best practice requirements (i.e security, privacy)
  • Working to set clear working roles and responsibilities with the Marketing team on optimization and project delivery
  • Owning relationships external suppliers (Sitehost, Silverstripers)
