We have an exciting role available for a Level three Intelligence and Insight Specialist to join the Planning and Analysis team in Intelligence and Insight.

The Intelligence and Insight Specialist (L3) is a principal-level role. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Analyst to join our team.

Reporting to the Service Owner - Planning and Analysis (P&A), Intelligence and Insight you will be a member of the P&A leadership team and will play a pivotal role in setting the strategy for data and analysis within the Intelligence and Insight team.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the data analysis process within the team, working closely with crossfunctional teams to identify business requirements and objectives
  • Mentor and guide a team of data analysts, providing technical expertise and fostering their professional growth
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver customized datasets, reports and dashboards that effectively communicate insights
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques, and proactively propose innovative solutions to improve data analysis processes
Mōu - About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, with a focus on data analysis, statistical modelling, and data visualisation. Experience within a customer insight/intelligence context would be advantageous
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, and SAS
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and growthoriented environment
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and a strong business acumen, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders
  • Strong customer and stakeholder management experience
  • A working knowledge of IR's enterprise and tax technical domains would be beneficial but not required
  • Proven ability to deliver work with solid evidence of project management capability

Te Tari Taake 'Inland Revenue' plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa 'New Zealand'.

We do this by collecting and distributing money - we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.

The Intelligence and Insight group (I&I) exists to understand customers.

Our four teams (Customer Insight, Customer Voice and Measurement, Intelligence, and Planning and Analysis) work collaboratively across the organisation and with external agencies to provide decision makers with a view of risks, opportunities, and customer perspectives.

The Planning and Analysis team works across I&I and look after the capabilities that are common across I&I i.e., analytics, research and design.

We also provide a planning and reporting function for the group.
