The EH&S Lead ensures a high standard of Safety across the divisions, overall operations, and products to safeguard our employees, assets and customers.

This role will implement and ensure compliance with company policies, specifically pertaining to safety, like:
ISO 45001, IMS/ISO 9001, HACCP, Workcover and other relevant legislative and accreditation requirements. Vital to this will be to carry out continuous improvement activities, and providing direction, support, and training to employees. Role Responsibilities

EHS/ Training systems:

  • Maintain SAIRS Safety database for incident reporting
  • Lead with Injury, Incident, and First aid reports, Root Cause Investigation, and Corrective Actions. Site safety improvement plans
  • Set standards for and set SOP's ensure operational procedures include all necessary safety precautions and that personnel are competent and comply with all procedures.
  • Carry out Risk Assessments and communicate corrective actions
  • Conduct Safety Observations and housekeeping Inspections


Lead Safety Meetings
  • Management and Site Safety Committee
  • Coordinate Corporate and Regional EHS Initiatives
  • Manage and execute RTW plans and alternative duties
  • Conduct Safety inductions to employees, visitors, and contractors
  • Ensure Contractor safe systems of work and compliance with Sealed Air internal requirements
  • Champion company EHS policies, guidelines and procedures to conform with ISO 4500
  • Provide guidance and direction in EHS programs at all levels to ensure a common and effective approach
  • Lead with site preparedness for emergencies
  • Lead HSE programs and inspections by regulatory agencies
  • Maintain the MSDS register
  • Maintain the PPE register
  • Procure HSE goods and services as required

Communication and reporting:

  • Update Regional Safety and Environmental reporting in timely manner
  • Ensure Monthly Management reporting of Safety performance
  • Maintain KPI's for management and shop floor
  • Take minutes of safety meetings (e.g. Safety Management Meeting, Site Safety Committee)
  • Prepare safety talks for shop floor, field staff and office staff
  • Coordinate, collate and report on Safe Behaviour Observations
  • Review incident information and identifying trends

Audits and External Testing:

  • Lead all internal safety audits to meet ISO 45001 requirements
  • Lead the 3 yearly global EH&S audit and outcomes
  • Participate in internal ISO 9001 Quality Audits

Internal and External Training:

  • Actively support training and development of key training initiatives
  • Support the implementation and coordination of the Skills Based Pay initiative
  • Ensure adequate levels of training are maintained for existing and new employees, including first aid, fire warden, emergency evacuation, forklift and hygiene
  • Identify EH&S training needs and ensure accurate training records are maintained Education
  • 5 years' experience in a health and safety focussed or similar role
  • Environmental Health and Safety or related qualification
  • Strong computer skills with a high standard of proficiency in MS Office
  • Safety management experience would be an advantage
  • Training experience would be advantageous
  • Auditing experience
