The Ombudsman exists to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.
We are looking for an experienced EA to support our Senior Assistant Ombudsman.
Mō te tūranga - About the role
The role of Executive Assistant is to enable the Senior Assistant Ombudsman to fulfil their responsibilities at a strategic, management and operational level by providing the full range of executive and administrative support services.
You will be a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.You should have experience working in an office environment, performing administrative duties, and providing support to a senior manager.
Given the dynamic nature of the executive landscape, we rely on executive assistants to be flexible and consistent while maintaining the confidentiality of high-level systems and operations.
This will be a fast paced role where you will bring your superior organisation and time management skills to enable the Senior Assistant Ombudsman to better manage their work and achieve their business goals.
This part time position, working 4 to 5 hours per day, is fixed term for 12 months.He kōrero mōu - About you

You will be someone who can cope with multiple tasks and maintain positive engagement with stakeholders, even in times of pressure.
Due to the nature of our work, confidentiality and discretion is a must.To be successful in this position you will have:
- experience in a similar position so you can hit the ground running from day one
- proficiency with information and communications technology, including word, outlook, excel, zoom, document management systems and reporting systems
- strong time-management skills and an ability to organise and coordinate multiple activities with competing timeframes
- strong attention to detail and keen ability to understand issues
- ability to coordinate tasks and work programmes, liaising with a variety of staff to obtain updates and ensure work is moving through smoothly
- flexible team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done; adaptable and enjoys a challenge
- maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality and exercises discretion at all times.
