The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.

People and Capability are responsible for the development of people related strategies and plans that support the strategic aims and objectives of the Chief Ombudsman.

Our role is to support the Office in fostering an environment that is happy, healthy, fair and encourages learning and development.

Working closely with the wider People and Capability team you will also ensure we are guiding, coaching and training hiring managers on best practise for recruitment.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Experience writing and posting job adverts on relevant platforms
  • Experience in developing recruitment documentation for end to end recruitment
  • Experience developing relationships with managers to build awareness of their hiring needs, and job specifications
  • Familiarity with job boards and using ATS systems (Springboard)
  • Desire to grow professionally with networking with agencies and ongoing training opportunities

Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $71,618 to $107,428 with 89,523 being the mid-point.
