About the role | Mō te tūnga:

Carl Bates MP is looking for an MP Support Coordinator to join their team in the Whanganui Electorate office for 20-30 hours per week. You'll be supporting constituents to engage with their elected representatives and helping your MP to connect with the community.

What you will bring to the role | Tō kete:

Your previous experiences in customer engagement will be nothing short of excellent. You'll be comfortable dealing with people, engaging with local and government agencies and responding to a range of requests. You'll be close to the issues facing the community and be able to do this while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.

You'll be a confident and proactive communicator who is keen to engage with the wider community.

You'll be highly organised and love working within a collaborative team. You'll have previous administrative experience and strong digital skills, including using MS Office 365,

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be politically impartial in your role. An awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

  • Assist with community engagement and constituent services for the MP
  • Monitor local forums, newsletters, and community Facebook pages where required, and maintain established information databases relating to work and contacts made in the community
  • Help provide information and advice to constituents on parliamentary processes and services
  • Maintain established databases and files relating to constituent issues
  • Raise common constituent issues and escalate complex cases where agreed with the team manager and/or the MP

The pay band for the role starts at $65,630 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an 'events-based' agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based in the Electorate office in Whanganui for 20-30 hours per week.
