We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Head of Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to work within a Secondary School and inspire our students to explore the world of design, engineering, and practical skills. As Head of DT, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead an inspiring curriculum to engage students in hands-on projects, foster critical thinking, and cultivate a passion for design thinking and craftsmanship.

**Responsibilities**:

- To be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and development of Design Technology throughout the school, ensuring that each and every student is positively encouraged to develop their potential to the full
- To promote a positive culture for Design Technology across the school
- To successfully lead, manage and motivate the Design Technology department to maintain a positive and effective working ethos
- Create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to explore their creative potential, embrace experimentation, and develop practical skills.
- Teach students the principles of design, including sketching, prototyping, modelling, and evaluating product concepts.
- Incorporate hands-on projects and practical activities to engage students in the design and creation process.
- Foster an understanding of sustainable design principles, ethical considerations, and the impact of design choices on the environment and society.
- Guide students through the stages of planning, designing, and creating functional products, encouraging problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through practical projects, design portfolios, presentations, and written assessments.

**Requirements for a Design Technology Teacher**:

- Right to Work in the UK
- Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
- Experience of teaching Design and Technology in a secondary school to GCSE level and ideally A Level experience
- Satisfactory references
