We have a large multi-year portfolio of projects to deliver on this Vision, and the Head of Portfolio Management and Delivery role is crucial to its success.

As Head of Portfolio, you will ensure the Digital Project Portfolio achieves its strategic and operational objectives through the effective management of portfolio planning, delivery, and change management for Digital Services.

You are responsible for ensuring current and future product delivery, programmes and projects of work are effectively prioritised for investment and delivered in line with contemporary delivery and change management techniques.

You will be part of the Digital Leadership Group, and report to the Director Digital Workplace Experience and Delivery.

You manage the Digital Project Portfolio, manage the team of Project and Change Managers to deliver this portfolio, and lead on the Digital delivery operating model and agile ways of working.

This is a broad, but rewarding role, with the ability to really make a difference and be seen. You will have a great team of professionals reporting to you, and can build and grow the practice capability.

Mōu | Who You Are


You will be a portfolio management superstar, with significant (10+ year's) experience and skills in project delivery, including portfolio/programme management or consulting, ideally having worked in both the public and private sector.

You will have leadership and people management experience, and ideally have experience with leading out on agile ways of working and delivery frameworks.

You need to be a people person, with strong relationship management and communication skills.

You will have highly developed stakeholder management skills, adept to navigating through complexity, at pace, with a natural ability to manage competing priorities and be an influential communicator with a growth mindset.


You will feel confident managing complex, multifaceted portfolios across multiple departments and customers and have the ability to set priorities and adapt to changes in a quick, professional You will have advanced planning, forecasting, estimating, and financial tracking expertise, and an eye for detail.

You will also be confident to provide guidance, constructive feedback and support to the team and portfolio.

Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With
You will work with people right across Digital Services, and at all levels.

You will be part of the Digital Leadership Group, and will work closely with all leaders to ensure successful delivery of the portfolio initiatives across their areas, and uptake of our delivery frameworks.

You will work closely with other practice leads to ensure joined up practice approaches and responsibilities. Working closely with the Portfolio Practice team members is a given.


You will also work with multiple teams across the University, in particular with Finance, Procurement, and Strategy & Planning teams, and will engage with the Senior Leadership Team as required.

Managing relationships with external vendors and suppliers is also required.
