The International Team is a pivotal part of our Ara community within the Academic Division.

***The International Director is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic management and oversight of internationalisation at Ara

This role encompasses:

  • Management of

Key Stakeholder Relationships:
Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with offshore institutions and key government bodies, domestically and internationally.

  • International Student Recruitment: Developing and implementing innovative strategies to attract and enrol students from around the globe.
  • Staff and

Student International Exchanges:
Promoting and coordinating exchange programs to enhance global learning experiences.

  • International Business Development and Return: Identifying and capitalizing on international business opportunities to ensure sustainable growth and return on investment.
  • Lead Role for the

Ara International Education Strategic Plan:
Steering the development and implementation of the strategic plan to enhance Ara's international education initiatives.

  • Building internal collaborations and partnerships: Ensuring there is alignment and understanding inside the organisation that enables execution and delivery of quality teaching and learning to international students locally and internationally.
  • Fostering, Growing, and Overseeing International Partnerships and

Foreign Territory Relationships:
Building and maintaining strong international partnerships to expand Ara's global reach.

  • Engagement with Local Industry and

Economic Development Agencies:
Collaborating with local stakeholders to support economic development and ensure alignment with industry needs.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills/Experience

  • Extensive experience in international education or an international business environment.
  • Experience in the ITP (Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics) Sector.
  • Operational Management Experience in a Tertiary Education Environment.
  • Strategic thinking and development of strategic directions.
  • Ability to translate vision and strategy into effective business and operational plans.
  • Proven organisational and management skills.
  • Significant experience in the international education sector, particularly within the tertiary education environment.
  • Proven operational management experience in a tertiary education setting, with strong knowledge of crosscultural dynamics and international student recruitment.
  • Experience in the Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITP) sector, with a focus on developing and managing international programs and partnerships.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
