Mō mātou - Our Organisation

At Kāinga Ora, ours is the important responsibility of transforming New Zealand's housing choices, outcomes and the entire housing sector by creating homes and communities that allow New Zealanders to thrive.

What is exciting about working for Kāinga Ora is getting the chance to make a real and positive impact on New Zealanders' lives.

With skills, planning and purposeful action, our people are creating the homes and neighbourhoods that will build the future of Aotearoa.

We are passionate about transforming New Zealand for the better.

That includes being a trusted partner for Māori and iwi, protecting and enabling their rights, interests and aspirations under the guidance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
The Mātauranga Māori Programme Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Mātauranga Māori programme and its initiatives and activities.

The Mātauranga Māori Programme is a Māori Capability Learning and Development Programme, designed to educate staff internally about Tikanga, Te Tiriti, and Te Ao Māori.

You will provide services to the Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa, who is responsible for complex, multifaceted streams of work.

This will require a comprehensive understanding of the interdependencies of initiatives within the Mātauranga Māori Programme, in order to be able to manage the needs, expectations, and at times competing priorities, of a wide variety of high demand stakeholders.

You'll support the Programme with coordination activities such as calendar management, venue bookings, reporting, procurement activities, and will support the facilitation space if required.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

As an experienced Coordinator, you will have excellent communication skills, adaptability and responsiveness to changing priorities, and work well under pressure or with short timeframes.

Time management skills will be key in this role, as well as experience and knowledge of mātauranga Māori and Te Reo.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:1-3 years working as a Project Coordinator in a high performing team, project management experience or knowledge of project management and project coordination
Organisational skills, especially the ability to multi-task and prioritise, often with tight timeframes at both operational and strategic levels
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience providing co-ordination support in a large programme/project environment with a number of team members, especially in workshop facilitation or financial planning environments
Proven ability to produce written reports and presentation material
A proactive, enthusiastic and energetic approach and an ability to work with a minimum of supervision on a day to day basis
A beginner level in Te Reo Māori and must be able to demonstrate adequate use of Te Reo Māori, with a willingness to learn further

Nōu te rourou - What's in it for you?

As a Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities employee, we want to make sure that you have all the tools and support you need.

We want to ensure you are healthy and have work-life balance.

We also want to support and grow your personal and career development through on-the-job learning, training courses, secondments and study opportunities.
