Since 1991 when the Trust was formed their investment diversification has grown to include farming, horticulture, geothermal energy and tourism.

Ka Pai Kai is a social enterprise which provides tamariki affordable healthy lunch options in schools. Ka Pai Kai Aotearoa's mission is to nourish the minds of our future generation. We do this by making healthy and delicious school lunches, fresh to order each day.

As a Food Production Supervisor at Tauhara North No.2 Trust in Whakatane, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the food production operations within our organisation. This fixed-term position falls under the department of Food Production Manager - Whakatane and is situated in the vibrant location of Whakatane.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in the preparation, cooking, and assembly of school lunches.
  • Ensure food production meets Ka Pai Kai's recipes, menu standards, and Ministry of Education guidelines.
  • Oversee food safety, health and safety, and wellbeing processes in the kitchen.
  • Support the Food Production Manager in managing stock levels, logistics, and reporting.
  • Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of meals.
  • Assist in developing new menu ideas and participate in termly cook-offs.
  • Support and train kitchen staff, fostering a culture grounded in manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.

Required skills / experience:

  • 2–4 years' experience in a production-style kitchen or food services environment.
  • Food hygiene and First Aid certificates.
  • A full driver's licence.
  • Experience working within a values-based or tikanga Māori environment (preferred).
  • Strong organisational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • A positive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and teamwork.
