At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens (WMK), we're proud to support over 100 kindergartens across a variety of regions—from Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Manawatū, Kāpiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also offer a unique home-based service, Etu Ao, in Porirua and Levin, with a special focus on Pasific families.

Today, more than 6,000 children are part of the Whānau Manaaki kindergarten family, with an additional 150 children enrolled in our Etu Ao home-based programme. Together, we're building strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Community Description

Our Kindergarten is situated near the small but busy shopping and business area of Tawa, one of Wellington's northern suburbs.

We are right next to the local school and enjoy a close relationship them as many of our whānau use both services. We have a large and sunny outdoor environment that facilitates exploration and exciting learning opportunities for tamariki.

We are licenced for 42 children who attend for 6 hours each day. You will join our team of 3 other teachers.

As a 0.6 Teacher your total hours of work will be 24 hours per week, worked as follows:

Mon 5hrs am - 4.30pm – including ½hr unpaid break)

Tues 5hrs am - 4.30pm – including ½hr unpaid break)

Wed 5hrs am - 4.30pm – including ½hr unpaid break)

Thurs 4.5hrs am - 1.10pm)

Fri 4.5hrs am - 1.10pm)

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:

  • is committed to internal evaluation and how this supports outcomes for tamariki;
  • is committed to play based learning;
  • works collaboratively with whanau and tangata whenua to increase knowledge and skills;
  • will work to support the team to weave a bicultural curriculum valuing language, culture and identity;
  • will bring innovative ideas and knowledge and who wants to continue their own learning journey through professional learning and development.
