At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens (WMK), we're proud to support over 100 kindergartens across a variety of regions—from Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Manawatū, Kāpiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also offer a unique home-based service, Etu Ao, in Porirua and Levin, with a special focus on Pasific families.

Community Description

Titahi Bay Kindergarten is in the seaside suburb of Titahi Bay, a diverse community with a broad demographic rich in connections to the stories and people of this place. The kindergarten's current vision and strategic plan places emphasis on the importance on strengthening our Te Tiriti O Waitangi based practice and having reciprocal relationships with mana whenua.

We implement a localised place-based curriculum that draws from and celebrates the people, places and things that are significant and unique to this area. We have established relationships with local schools which enable tamariki and their families opportunities to support transition.

Our environment is warm and welcoming where whānau are invited to share and to participate in our hāpori ako/learning community in ways that suit them. We strive to meet the needs of all Tamariki, whānau and kaiako through our philosophy, resources and knowledgeable teaching practices.

We are licensed for 41 children who attend for 6 hours each day. You will join our fun loving supportive team whānau made up of 4 other teachers and an administrator.

• will lead and support the team in designing and implementing culturally responsive approaches that reflect the local community and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• works responsively and inclusively, in ways that ensure that tamariki are at the heart of decisions, and where the diversity and uniqueness of each tamaiti is valued.
• has excellent communication and interpersonal skills which actively contribute to collaborative learning-focused relationships with tamariki, whānau, teaching team, support staff, other professionals and the local community
• demonstrates competence in leading collaborative professional learning based on effective evaluative practice and adaptively applies this learning to support positive outcomes for tamariki
• is a strategic thinker and is adaptable and responsive to change.
