**He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua Introduction |**He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua Timatanga Kōrero**
At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 100 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.
Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. Therefore, we seek to be a leader in the provision of high-quality early childhood education, and by demonstrating what can be achieved, be seen as advocates for children and whānau and help to improve quality early childhood education throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
Out of this vision comes Ngā Uara - Our Values:
- Nurturing the mana of the child
- Kounga - Quality
- Mahi Tahi - Partnership
- Pono - Integrity
More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki's kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
**Community Description**
Waitohi Kindergarten is nestled in the northern suburbs of Wellington, Johnsonville is a vibrant and family-friendly community known for its warm atmosphere and strong sense of belonging. With excellent schools, convenient public transport, and a growing town centre, it's a popular spot for both young families and long-time residents. The community spirit here is strong - people look out for one another, and there's always something happening.
Surrounded by beautiful green hills and just a short drive from the city, Johnsonville blends the best of suburban comfort with easy access to urban life.
Waitohi is a full year kindergarten and is licensed for 30 children aged 2 - 5 years old and open for 10 hours each day.
The kindergarten is situated within the new Johnsonville Community Hub and is above the library. This position would suit a Kaiako who enjoys working in a full day and full year model and who has an interest in engaging with the library, to support our localised curriculum.
This is a Fulltime role 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
We are looking for an experienced Kaiako to lead the Waitohi kindergarten team who shows a strong commitment and understanding of:
- Implementing, and further developing, our te Tiriti o Waitangi based practice.
- Working collaboratively with a distributed leadership style and with a lens of educative mentoring to support a team culture of open communication, collective problem solving and shared responsibility.
- Highly effective and responsive communication that builds and maintains learning focussed partnerships with tamariki, whānau, colleagues and other professionals.
- Leading and having oversight of curriculum implementation for our mixed age setting.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making with an ability to set goals, plan strategically, and make informed decisions including an understanding of compliance and regulations.
**If you would like to visit the kindergarten to see if the environment would be a good fit for you, please contact Senior Teacher Annie Masterton on 0211 909 584.**
**Applications close on Tuesday, 23 September at 11.45pm
