Starting salary: $ 96,307 to $ 113,303 + Superannuation

The role | Te tūnga

This fixed term role will support a Stats NZ project to develop and deliver several updated macroeconomic measures, including collecting and reporting on a monthly Consumers Price Index from the start of 2027.

In this role, you will:

  • Collect information needs and data requirements from teams across Stats NZ
  • Negotiate requirements between data suppliers and Stats NZ, with a focus on feasibility, viability, desirability, legality, and ethics
  • Oversee, govern, capture, and validate information about data and data quality
  • Coordinate data acquisition as part of Stats NZ's work on Social Investment and the Integrated Data Infrastructure
  • Work closely with Stats NZ's legal, privacy and data security teams

What you bring | Nōu te rourou

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • In-depth understanding of data and data quality
  • 3-5 years' experience in data sourcing or contract management
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience turning technical data requirements into contracts
  • The ability to adapt and deal with ambiguity
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience building and maintaining strong stakeholder/customer relationships
  • Demonstrated customer centricity.
  • Demonstrated advocacy for, or support of, diversity and inclusion.
  • Familiarity or commitment to developing understanding of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo, Te Ao Māori
