Business Broker

We are seeking a dynamic and passionateBusiness Broker to lead the 'Business, Industry and Employer' aspects of our Youth Employment Service. This role requires a proactive, results-driven individual who is dedicated to delivering, life-changing opportunities for youth.
The Business Broker is a business facing role, and works as part of a team alongside the Youth Worker Navigators and other stakeholders to provide young people (aged 15 to 24 years) who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) a tailored approach (including information, skills, knowledge, connections, guidance, employment opportunities and pastoral care) that supports young people's transitions to being work-ready, and gain and sustain employment. This works within an ecosystem that consists of 'partners' who co-design the pathways to employment and commit to working collaboratively to provide an intensive and comprehensive wrap-around service to remove the barriers our young people currently face.
Our Youth Employment Service includes a strong emphasis on employers. Many Rotorua employers are eager to approach employment from a different angle. Many employers have considerable concern about the ageing workforce, yet they are not necessarily equipped to support young people in the workplace. Many entry level jobs also lack pathways and ongoing education and development opportunities. This requires support and systems change within the workplace environment.
In particular, the Business Broker:
- is the relationship manager with business, industry, employers and employment networks in identified sectors for the Employment Service.
- will keep abreast of local and national economic and industry data, and business growth trends and data.
- works with the employers to identify and secure work opportunities for our youth.
- works with the Youth Worker Navigators to identify appropriate youth for employment opportunities.
- communicates clearly and in a timely way with the Youth Worker Navigators any roles are available for our youth.
- supports the Youth Worker Navigators to enable youth to become work ready and increase employability skills.
- coordinates work experience and opportunities with employers, and post-employment (6 months) support for the businesses.
- follows up with employers any applications youth in the Employment Service submit.
- contributes to industry and employer events in collaboration with partner agencies.
- works with employers to ensure that there is ongoing learning and development opportunities in place for young employees (or support them to develop these in partnership with other organisations)
- support employers to become, or be, 'youth ready'.
- informs employers of any available assistance they receive when recruiting our youth.
Our Youth Employment Service creates a community of impact 'eco-system', that supports and empowers young people and prioritises those young people that are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and/or most at risk of long-term unemployment to actively engage them in learning, and to attain and sustain employment.
Taiohi Tūrama – Rotorua Centre for Youth is a not for profit organisation funded by a variety of Government departments including Te Whatu Ora, MSD, MYD, Oranga Tamariki, and other organisations through contracts and grants. We are a dedicated Youth One Stop Shop with the vision that all 'Rotorua youth reach their full potential'. Our multidisciplinary team includes Nurses, Doctors, Social Workers, Youth Workers, Navigators, Mentors/Kaiārahi, Business Broker, Mental Health Practitioners and administration staff working specifically with young people, focusing on youth health, youth development and youth employment.
We are looking for a dynamic relationship manager, who is business savvy with an understanding of the logistics of business to ensure that our Youth Employment Service adds value to our Rotorua businesses. Excellent communication skills, including a high standard of written, verbal and reporting skills are a must. Strong negotiation and problem solving skills, and experience of working within the context of complex multi-agency partnerships, will be required. Preferably you will come with a relevant tertiary qualification.
It is essential that you have a strong passion for young people, have a commitment to the Pūtake Nui framework; the Vision, Mission, Values and Principles of Taiohi Tūrama, and Mana Taiohi, for achieving positive outcomes for young people. The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the context of a Youth One Stop Shop goes without saying.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you
