He angitūtanga / The opportunity:

We are looking for a dedicated Chef to join our team at Lakes District Hospital, Queenstown. This is a Permanent role, working 36 hours per week including weekend shifts, ideal for someone passionate about food service in a healthcare setting.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving meals in accordance with dietary requirements and allergen protocols
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently met
  • You will be establishing and maintaining quality control, and assisting with ordering and menu development
  • In addition, you will be assisting with general kitchen cleaning duties including dish washing
  • Providing cover for annual and sick leave (as and when required)

The requirements for this role are:

  • proven experience working as a chef for at least 1 year in a healthcare kitchen
  • food safety certificates (Unit Standard 167 & 168) or equivalent
  • a strong understanding of special diets and allergen management
  • the ability to thrive under pressure and be a team player
  • the ability to work weekends and adapt to a dynamic environment
  • familiarity with Saffron (menu management system) and Safe FoodPro
  • knowledge of temperature procedures
  • superior customer service skills
  • a hardworking, reliable, friendly nature
